An International Transfer Certificate (ITC) is required for every player aged 10 years or older, who are registering in Australia for the first time. It is only necessary for those who have previously been registered and played in another country and applies to both amateur and professional players. ITCs are a FIFA requirement, ensuring that players are not under contract, or have been suspended. This requirement applies even if the player is an Australia citizen, or has been previously registered in Australia before playing overseas.

Requesting an ITC

ITCs are requested after the general registration form is completed. Upon reaching the ‘Regulation Details’, you will be prompted to answer a few questions. Please answer these questions truthfully. If you indicate that your last registration was overseas, an ITC request will be automatically generated, and linked to your registration.

Process

  1. 1. Sign into PlayFootball.

  1. 2. Search for the product you wish to register to, and select ‘Details’.

Once a registration has been submitted on PlayFootball, it will be sent to the player’s prospective club and Member Federation. Member Federations and Football Australia work together to process ITC requests. To process this request, Member Federations require additional supporting documents. Required documents differ depending on the age and status of the participant.

For participants aged 18 years and up:

Member Federations require a copy of the player’s passport to support their ITC.

Below are two examples of an acceptable copy of a passport.

Following submission of your registration, please obtain a copy of your passport, as per the images above, and send it to your prospective Member Federation.

Member Federation contact details can be found here.

For participants aged between 10 and 18:

ITC regulations apply to any child aged between 10 and 18 who has previously been registered to play in another country. They apply to any foreign national registering to play, as well as any Australian minors returning to Australia, after having played abroad.

Member Federations require a ‘Minor ITC Application & Declaration’ to support their ITC request. This form can be found on pages 12 and 13 of the Guide to ITCs and Minor Applications

Once you have completed this initial form, you must provide additional supporting documents to the Member Federation. The type of supporting document depends upon the participant’s status as a player. The list below details which additional form must be completed, according to the player’s situation.

These forms can be found can be found on pages 14 to 23 of the Guide to ITCs and Minor Applications

These forms, and any required supporting documents must be sent to the player’s prospective Member Federation.

Member Federation contact details can be found here.

For further guidance on required documents to be submitted with Minor ITC applications, please refer to pages 24 to 28 of the Guide to ITCs and Minor Applications.

PLEASE NOTE: where a minor is born in a country other than Australia and is registering to play football for the first time, the ITC process will still be triggered. There are two instances where this may happen:

  1. When a minor, born in a country other than Australia, is aged between 10 and 18 and is registering to play for the first time.
  2. When a minor, born in a country other than Australia, turns 10, after playing the previous season in Australia.

In these instances, the participant is not required to send any additional documents to the Member Federation, and the Football Australia will work with the Member Federation to settle the ITC request.

Final Steps

Once an ITC request has been processed by the Member Federation and Football Australia, you will be prompted to pay for the registration. Following successful payment of the registration fees, the club will then approve your registration, and you will be all set to play in the upcoming season.
